ABOUT PUCOI

HALAL in general term means permitted, allowed, authorized, approved, actioned, lawful, legal, legitimate or licit.

Philippine Ulama Congress Organization, Inc. is a duly registered religious, non-stock and non-profit organization whose aim is to preserve, propagate and promote the balanced teachings of Islam. In pursuit of this goal, it commits to provide the following six (6) services:

HISTORY

The Organization. The PUCOI was founded and duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on the 13th of December 2005 by the late ‘Aalim Usman Imam Shiek Al-Aman. Following its creation, the organization focused its efforts towards the enhancement and development of identified Madaris in the country and the promotion of Halal Industry in the Philippines in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry and the Office of Muslim Affairs (now National Commission on Muslim Filipinos). The Founder. ‘Aalim Usman is a holder of degrees in Shariah Islamic Law (1968) and Graduate Diploma on Tarbiyah (Education, 1970) from Al-Azhar University, Cairo Egypt. Upon completion of his Master’s degree, he proceeded to serve as a missionary of Islamic Call Society of Libya and was assigned in Tokyo, Japan for ten (10) years from 1974-1985. Thereafter, he provided his services and expertise on Shariah matters as a private consultant to the Office of the Muslim Affairs (now National Commission on Muslim Filipinos) in the years 1993-2000. In 2001 up to 2014, he dedicated his life and mission on Islamic education and propagation by establishing Islamic centers, madaris, organizations including the Manila Islamic Institute and the Philippine Ulama Congress Organization, Inc.

ORGANIZATION

The members of PUCOI are all educators by passion and profession. Representing the various institutions of learning, the members are composed mainly of Ulama (Muslim scholars), Asatidz (Islamic and Arabic Teachers), Imams (Muslim community leaders), Khateebs (Preachers), Daa’iyahs (Propagators) and Shariah Counsellors-at-Law.

VISION

A proactive and productive organization of Muslim educators that serves as a vicegerent of Islamic faith, instrument of harmonious existence and agent of positive change.

MISSION

To serve as an effective instrument in the establishment of a balanced and harmonious society that is built on the pillars of excellence, partnership and service.
